INSTALLATION:

The Esb Cockpit is an Excel Add-In. To install, download file CPitZIP.zip. It contains files CPit60.xla and UnCPit.xls. It is recommended but not necessary that you copy these files to a folder named C:\AdVance. In Excel, select “Tools”, “Add-Ins…”, “Browse…”, then find and select CPit60.xla.

During installation, toolbars and icons will be added to your screen. For best use, make sure they are positioned immediately above the Excel grid area. If they are then not placed to your convenience, you may drag the toolbars around. It is recommended that you begin by not hiding any toolbars until you determine their purpose. All of the icons will display a Tool Tip message near the icon.

During the installation process you will be asked to acknowledge that you have read the disclaimer section of The Esb Cockpit CPitINFO.xls file. The disclaimer appears below.

The C-PIT icon - At the completion of the installation, you will receive the following message: "The C-PIT icon in the upper left grid area of your screen can be used to temporarily remove and restore all other Cockpit icons. You will want to move it up with your Standard toolbar." Click OK. Once installation is complete, click on the C-PIT icon two or three times and notice the effect. You will want to drag the C-PIT icon up to one of the existing rows of toolbars that normally stays on your Excel screen, such as the Standard or the Formatting toolbar. Place the C-PIT icon at the right most end or any convenient location.

It is recommended that you not move icons around inside the toolbars as some are addressed by their position within the toolbar. You may, however, move the icons around in the toolbar named T2_Adv which contains the Retrieve, Keep-Only, etc. You may wish to have them in a different order within the toolbar or remove those icons that you do not intend to use; and making such changes is OK.

In the event you move other icons around inside of toolbars and then the icons do not behave as expected, follow the de-install instructions as shown below and then re-install The Esb Cockpit.

UN-INSTALLATION:

The procedure to remove The Esb Cockpit from your PC is quick and easy by either procedure below:

For Cockpit Version 6, select (in Excel) “View”, “Toolbars”, then check the toolbar named UnInstall_Cockpit. Click on the now displayed red icon and then respond to confirm that you want the components uninstalled.

For any Version of the Cockpit, load the UnInCPit.xls. It may prompt you that it has macros and it does. When you allow the macro to run, it will prompt for your confirmation to remove the Cockpit components. Should you not allow the macro to run, you can then review the macro source code for your comfort.

Following either procedure, you may then delete the folder C:\AdVance.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

A special icon labeled C-PIT can be used to toggle the row of Cockpit icons ON & OFF. This will free up a couple of extra Excel grid rows while the Cockpit and Essbase are not being used.

Please note that in Excel , the Essbase Add-In will not restore a worksheet's Option settings display while a worksheet is protected; consequently, the Cockpit icons are also not updated when a worksheet is protected.

Should you use the "Record Macros" facility and change sheets in the process, a line of VBA code including the reference "See_Cockpit_CPitDoc_html_to_STOP_this" will be included in your script. This is because The Esb Cockpit does activate code on each sheet change to update your icons, and the routine called to accomplish this was specifically named to draw your attention. You will want to delete such extra lines of code in your recorded script. To stop the lines from being generated in your "record" script, click the C-Pit icon to temporarily remove the CockPit icons from the screen. This disables all CockPit activity during screen changes.
